Another kids party and getting lost again

Today was another kids party. And yes, we did get lost again!! Of course this time we put safeguards in place, left early, got there early and ... no one's there! Hmm, funny. So we sit and wait, and sit and wait, and sit and wait some more while watching some senior citizens try to play golf. Then we get a call saying, why aren't you people there, everyones waiting for you! It turned out that yes, we were at thye right place, but to get to the actual place, we had to go through a long series of corriders and doors to get to a very posh function room where a million or so Thai kids who had all had way over there quota of sugar and chocolate awaited us. But it was fun, and we only did the puppet show which went smoothly.
I feel that to have a sucessful party, you must make the kids your friends before the party is half-way through. Kids can often be extremely shy, but all you have to do is become one of them, play their games, be interested in their toys and gifts, act like them (which often includes outlandishly silly faces) and make them have fun! I think that's why some teachers have problems controlling kids, they're too stoic, scholastical. While that of course is necessary and kids need boundaries, they also need grown-ups to get down to their level, someone who will arrange a water-fight or a round of jumping up and down screaming every once in a while alet them be the kids they are. Yes, from experience I know that this can be hard to control at times, but if you can do that and the kids respect you, oh it's so much fun. Kids are great.
This evening was fun, but I stayed up too late and I just know I'll be dead tired tommorow. Well, no worries, tommorows my day off so that will be fine.
