Vector Art

Now I was going to blog about something else at this moment, but I’m not in a real writing mood so I thought I’d write about this. Vector Art, my new love! Ok, dictionary popping up here … a vector is: a mathematical expression denoting a combination of magnitude and direction, as velocity. My God they make it sound disgusting, how could I love that! Ok, maybe I should use my own words. Basically vectors are like fonts. They can be however you want them, you can design your own, they can be any color, be transparent, have shadow applied to them, and the beautiful thin is you can make them any size and they are the same quality because they are LINES. Easy explanation enough, but how do you draw with vectors? Well, basically, you use a vector program, I use Corel Draw (I love that program with all my heart too) and you draw vectors as you wish. Take ages and I can be difficult when they stack on each other strangely, but the RESULTS, oh Holy mother Mary and her sister Magdelene, they are GOOD! I just love the feel vector gives! The smooth, solid look. You can really conceptualize with vector, which is more difficult when just changing around a photo, because with vector it’s like drawing. So that was really boring if you actually read it, but don’t worry about all that, look at what it can do, it’s really good, my favorite computer art medium for sure.

I did these two compositions in 2 days, the rose I had started a while back and just picked it up and used it. It takes a very long time to do, vector art. The Muslim girl took me less than 2 hours but the rose took me a long, long time. Anyways, that was a boring post, but I hope you enjoyed the pictures, hopefully more coming soon.
But if there is a point to be learned, those who sit at computers can be creative … thank God, would never want to be a zero and one code freak!! (p.s. click the photos for the version in the gallery, where large versions are available)
